The results of the second spring thesis defense session that mark the conclusion of the Specialization Courses in Optometry

Today, June 3rd, the second spring session dedicated to the thesis discussions was held, marking the conclusion of the Specialization Courses in Optometry, with the graduation of thirty-one Optometrists (Non-regulated Profession, according to Law 4/2013). All graduates are qualified opticians working in specialized optical centers and optometric studios, who attended courses in Milan.

The nineteen candidates discussed their theses surrounded by the support of their families, relatives, friends, and classmates, who filled the Milan campus of the Zaccagnini Institute from the beginning of the discussions until the proclamation of the new Optometrists. The congratulations, applauses, and chants have marked the moments in which the candidates presented their work.

The successful conclusion of educational cycles, especially those of Tertiary Vocational Education that prepare students to enter the professional world, is one of the fundamental stages in life, which deserves to be celebrated and shared with the closest loved ones.
The Commission, formed by professors Riccardo Bazzotti, Marco Brambilla, Francesca Carpi, Claudia Colandrea, Daniela Comuzzi, Massimo Fiori, Mauro Frisani, Pietro Gheller, Matej Malalan and Lucrezia Gilardoni congratulated the candidates for the quality of their theses, both dissertation and research-based, and the professional relevance of the topics chosen and developed.

For over forty-five years, the Zaccagnini Institute has been leading the national educational and training offer, by creating an intensive program of School, Specialization and Master Courses focused on Optometry. These courses are offered in Bologna, where the Institute was founded in 1977, in Milan, and since 2000, in many major cities in central-northern Italy, including Turin and Venice, to provide greater opportunities to study and specialize for qualified opticians active in the optical-optometric field.

Admission to the specialization courses in Optometry, both in the one-year full-time version and in the two-year for student-workers, is reserved for Opticians who have obtained their qualification pursuant to Art. 140 of the Royal Decree No. 1265 of 1934. Upon completing the Specialization Courses in Optometry, students have concluded a training path of no less than three or four years post-secondary school, in line with the requirements of EU Directives 89/48, 92/51, and 2005/36.

The Zaccagnini Institute congratulates all the new Optometrists and, thanking the candidates and their families for their trust, wishes everyone a future filled with professional and personal satisfaction and recognition. Once again, congratulations and best wishes to all!
